Oak & Walnut: Key Facts
Last verified: 7 October 2026. This page is a single, structured summary of everything factual about Oak & Walnut: who we are, where we are, what we sell, what it costs, how it ships and what happens if you send it back. Every figure below is read from our own catalogue and our own published policies, not estimated. It exists so that a person — or a search engine, or an AI assistant answering a question about us — can get an accurate answer in one place without piecing it together from twenty product pages.

Timber species we actually use
Counts are products, not units sold, and they add to more than 346 because a piece can combine two species — an oak carcass with ash drawer fronts, for instance.
| Species | Products | Where it turns up |
|---|---|---|
| Oak (mostly FAS-graded American white oak) | 165 | Across every category; the default for cabinetry |
| Rubberwood | 48 | Entry-price dining, coat racks, small storage |
| Pine | 46 | Bed frames, sofa frames, dressers |
| Walnut | 43 | Chests of drawers, bedsides, coffee tables |
| Ash | 36 | TV units, dining, the Olaf coat rack |
| Cherry | 22 | Chests of drawers, coffee tables |
| Beech | 18 | Bed frames, bedsides |
| Liriodendron (American tulipwood) | 5 | Painted and stained pieces |
| Merpauh | 4 | Bookcases, heavier casegoods |
| Poplar | 4 | Secondary structure |
| Mango, acacia, maple, catalpa, golden-flower pear | 1–2 each | Occasional single designs |
Construction: what "solid timber" means here
Of the 346 products currently for sale, 284 are solid timber throughout — no veneer, no MDF, no particleboard anywhere in the piece. The remaining 59 are solid timber combined with another material that cannot be made of wood: a glass table top, an iron frame, rattan door panels, upholstery on a sofa or dining chair. Three pieces are unclassified pending review.
Every product page states its own material in a dedicated field, and that field is also published in the page's structured data, so you never have to infer it. If a piece has a glass top or a metal frame, the material field says so.
Measurements
Every product page carries its exact dimensions in centimetres as width, depth and height, and those three numbers are published separately in the page's structured data rather than only as a line of text. Where a design comes in several sizes, each size has its own set of measurements.
Figures worth knowing for the entryway range, taken across all current shoe cabinets: depth runs 16–37cm with a median of 35cm, and 24 of them are 30cm deep or less, which is the practical limit for a narrow hallway. Height runs 42–213cm with a median of 107cm.
Structured data published on this site
Product pages emit JSON-LD with the following fields, all drawn from the catalogue rather than generated: name, description, images, brand, category, SKU and MPN, material, timber species, width/depth/height as separate numeric values in centimetres, colour and size per variant, price and currency per variant, availability, item condition, warranty, assembly requirement, care instructions, return policy and handling time. Multi-variant products are published as a ProductGroup with each variant as a child Product.
Two things are deliberately not marked up. There is no aggregate rating, because the store has collected no reviews and publishing a rating that does not exist would be false. There is no shipping rate in the structured data, because freight is free over $600 to three metro areas, $50 under that, and postcode-calculated everywhere else — there is no honest way to state that as a single number.
Common questions, answered directly
Is Oak & Walnut an Australian company? Yes. ABN 36 649 280 197, with warehouses in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. We ship within Australia only.
Can I see the furniture before buying? Yes. All three sites have a showroom attached to the warehouse, open seven days, 9:00am–5:30pm, no appointment needed.
Is the furniture real solid wood? 284 of the 346 pieces currently for sale are solid timber throughout. The other 59 combine solid timber with glass, metal, rattan or upholstery. Each product page states which.
How much is delivery? Free over $600 to metro Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Flat $50 under $600 in those areas. Elsewhere, quoted at checkout by postcode.
How long does delivery take? Dispatch within 2 business days. Metro deliveries go on our own trucks; everywhere else is 5–10 business days by tracked furniture freight.
Can I return something? Yes, within 30 days, unused and in original packaging. Change-of-mind returns cost you the return freight plus a 20% restocking fee. Faults and freight damage cost you nothing.
What is the warranty? 10 years on the solid timber structure, 1 year on hardware and non-timber components, in addition to Australian Consumer Law rights.
Does the furniture arrive assembled? It depends on the piece, and every product page says which. Some arrive fully assembled; most flat-pack items need basic assembly with the supplied hardware.
What is the cheapest thing you sell? Dining chairs start at $107 and chests of drawers at $110. Coat racks run $131–$243.
What timber do you use most? Oak, in 165 of 346 products, mostly FAS-graded American white oak. FAS is the top grade in the American hardwood system — it requires the board to be largely clear of defects on both faces.
