Solid Timber Bedside Tables Australia

How Tall Should a Bedside Table Be?
The ergonomic rule: the top of your bedside should sit at the same height as the top of your mattress, or up to 5cm taller. That makes it comfortable to reach for a phone or glass of water without lifting your shoulder. Australian bed frames put the mattress top at 55–65cm; most bedsides fall in this range, but if you use a very high bed base or a mattress topper, measure before you buy.
Match or Contrast?
Two design routes work: match your bedside to the bed frame timber for a cohesive Scandinavian look, or contrast a light oak bedside against a dark walnut bed for visual depth. Both are valid — contrast tends to feel more designer, matching tends to feel more calm. We stock both timber families so you can order the pair together and see them in the same room.
Timber Care & Craftsmanship
Solid hardwood ages beautifully when it is looked after correctly. Dust weekly with a soft dry cloth, wipe spills immediately, and keep pieces away from direct sunlight and heating vents. Every 6–12 months, re-oil or wax the surface with a food-safe hardwood finish to preserve the natural grain and lift the colour. Avoid ammonia and silicone-based sprays — they build up and dull the timber over time.
Each Oakwalnut piece is kiln-dried below 12% moisture, machine-jointed and hand-finished. We source from FSC-certified plantations in North America, Europe and South-East Asia. Because timber is a living material, minor grain, knot and colour variation is part of what makes every piece one of a kind.

What height bedside table do I need for a standard bed?
Aim for the top of the bedside to sit level with the top of your mattress — usually 55–65cm from the floor. If you use a mattress topper, add its thickness.
Are your bedside tables solid timber all the way through?
Tops, drawer fronts and legs are always solid hardwood. Drawer bases and back panels use structural plywood on some models.
Do bedside tables come as a pair?
Add two of the same model to the cart. Many customers also mix a two-drawer on one side with a slim single-drawer on the other for asymmetric bedrooms.
What is the drawer weight capacity?
Every drawer is rated to at least 10kg — enough for books, a laptop, or a full drawer of clothing.

Not built-in — but tops are always solid timber, so a stick-on wireless charging pad works cleanly on the underside of the top surface.
